Freeing Bad Memories

How It Works

“ART works directly to reprogram the way in which distressing Images are stored in the brain so that they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional reactions”

“Specifically, it has been shown that whenever we recall an emotional memory, that memory becomes open to change.  As a matter of fact, we are always making changes to emotional memories when we recall them, we just didn’t realize that this was happening.” Read The Full Article

“Now that we know this happens, when it comes to traumatic memory, we can harness this opportunity to purposefully make the changes that will free us from the troubling images and sensations and the emotions that cause suffering.”

Sounds too good to be true?

  • Etc.

Small Traumas Include: Distressing, Hurtful, and Painful situations that continue to affect you.

Why Does Trauma Need Professional Help?

Time does not always heal, trauma symptoms can last for years. The memory of the traumatic event replays over and over, because these memories are not filed away properly when the body is undergoing extreme stress from a frightening event. Therapist call this reactive process the Fight, Flight, and Freeze response.

It is normal to feel helpless, but brain has the power to heal itself. Therapist can encourage the brain to reprocess these memories and file them away correctly through interventions. Then experience relief when symptoms are alleviated from memories being filed away correctly.

What Does A Session Look like?

Sessions last 60-80 minutes on average.

Sessions last 60-80 minutes on average.  You are always in control of the entire ART session, with the therapist guiding the process. Although many traumatic experiences can be very painful to think about or visualize, this therapy rapidly moves toward growth, relief, and positive changes.  Most of my clients feel significantly better by the end of the first session.  Importantly, you do not even have talk about your traumas or difficult life experiences with me to achieve relief from your symptoms.
